Alumni Shabbaton in Israel
The first annual Reishit Shabbaton for alumni living in Israel was a tremendous success from start to finish. On erev Shabbos, Parshat Ki Teitzei, seventeen Reishit alumni, together with their wives and children, made their way to Reishit. Families came from Beit Shemesh, Ramat Beit Shemesh, Yerushalayim, Efrat, and Maaleh Adumim. These families were joined by many single Reishit alumni, shannah bet students, Rav Rosner and his family, and all of the Marcus families. Most of the fifteen years of Reishit history were represented.
The Shabbos was truly enjoyable in many ways. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the accommodations were great. Rav Ari’s Kabbalat Shabbat was beautiful, and Rav Jay’s and Rav Maslin’s shiurim were insightful and inspirational. Over the course of Shabbos, new friendships were formed, and old friendships were rekindled. People had a chance to shmooze with their old Rabbeim, and introduce them to their wives and children. All in all, a fun and relaxing Shabbos was had by everyone. We look forward to having more Israel alumni events in the future.
